The Episcopal Church recognizes two kinds of religious communities (Canon 30).  Monastic orders require traditional vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience. Christian Communities require obedience to a rule and constitution.  The House of Bishops recognized the Community of the Paraclete as a Christian Community in 1992.
