Our invitation to you: We welcome men and women of all ages, both single and married, as members. Paracletian religious life supports the search for God in all facets of existence, so that the whole of life becomes a single, integrated spiritual practice. We believe strongly in the importance of face-to-face community life for all members, and we work hard to create local chapters wherever our members locate. The Paracletian community offers a supportive fellowship for those who have undertaken the spiritual quest and encourages the creative use of spiritual gifts. If you feel that religious life may be the next step for you, contact us to find out more.
Membership Categories
Our three membership categories are Friend, Associate, and Regular. Members commit themselves in obedience to the Rule and Constitution of the Community.
Eligibility
Friend: any baptized Christian, age 16+, may become a Friend.
Associate: an Episcopalian who has attended community meetings for six months may become an Associate. An Associate develops a personal rule of life with the help of the Chapter Guardian.
Regular: an Associate who has attended Chapter meetings for six months may apply to enter the novitiate to test his or her vocation to become a vowed (Regular) member. Following a one year period of testing and formation, a novice may apply to become a vowed member. Regulars may apply for Life Profession after three years in annual vows.
For those located in a diocese without a local chapter, the Intensive Formation Program is available, involving attendance at an annual retreat.
Formation
The Community carries out a continuous program of formation for all members. It offers a foundation for a Christian life of prayer and service within the Anglican tradition. (Contact the Nat'l Vocation Dir. for information about the Intensive Formation Program.)
